WHOA.

Here's a pretty effective ad from Obama slamming the Maverick Myth.

I'm a big fan of coming right out and calling the repugs out on their lies, but I don't think the lobbyist angle is the strongest lead. I would rather see the order: 1. Voting with Bush 90% of the time; 2. Bridge to Nowhere lie; 3. Lobbyist (though maybe that doesn't tie in as well to the "lie" frame, which I love). Thoughts?

okay, now it works! i like it, and actually, i think the lobbyist line works in the red and yellow states. everyone loves to hate the lobbyists. but, yeah, i would lead with the 90% line for sure.

nice that our quibble is with what is the best order to hammer them on their bullsh*t.

This should run everywhere for a long time. Then a bunch of ads reminding people that the repubs have no economic plan and that Obama does (tax cut for 95% of people). Then, the palin-bounce goes poof.

I agree with Bridget's rankings (and I think it does still fit with the lie frame because the whole repackaging effort is an utterly contrived load of crap).

The one thing I'd like to see them hit harder on is the fact that, it's not ONLY that she was for the bridge to nowhere, it's that even when she supposedly said "no thanks," she still kept the damn money!

Olbermann had Obama on tonight -- the interview itself was pretty much fluff, but Olbermann's take on it later (which he discussed with that annoying Rachel woman from the convention coverage) was pretty interesting. Based on some of the things Obama said, Keith suggested that the Obama camp is perfectly happy with where things stand at this stage of things. The conventions are over and Obama has weathered things well (particularly regarding his one potential liability, which is relative lack of experience) and they feel extremely well-prepared to kick some maverick ass in the debates. So going into the debates running even with McCain in the national polls is just peachy with the Obama people. I found it pretty persuasive (or at least highly comforting).

Speaking of "whoa," easy up on Rachel Maddow, Penny. She is very popular in the Lawsaghan household.

As for the ad, I love it. I also agree with Bridget's order, linking McCain and Bush is probably the best attack we have. I would go further and link Bush's executive abuses to Palin's. Then, the lie stuff. I think going after lobbyists is a little dangerous, especially since Biden's son is one. But, I love the tone of the ad. It definitely lands some blows.
