Good Morning

Okay, now I'm getting pissed. First, the McCain team sends out this ridiculous and offensive ad yesterday (www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nagb3exhNvQ). And NOW they've got this one www.youtube.com/watch?v=yZd_Y_D-RaA. Before you freak out and start sucking your thumb and huddling in a corner, Barack was only repeating the exact words McCain used to malign Clinton's health care plan last year. I hope this comes back to bite McCain in the a** but I'm concerned that "lipstick on a pig" has legs. The true story is buried on the bottom of most articles being published today.

I do think it was perhaps not the best phrase to use since everyone was going to connect it to Palin's pit bull lipstick comment. As usual, though, Obama came back with a measured response: "Obama's campaign responded by saying that Obama wasn't referring to Palin and accusing the GOP camp of engaging in a "pathetic attempt to play the gender card."

In his speech Tuesday, Obama followed up the comments by saying that Palin's is an interesting story, drawing boos at the mention of her name and trying to cut them off.

"Look, she's new, she hasn't been on the scene, she's got five kids. And my hat goes off to anybody who's looking after five. I've got two and they tire Michelle and me out," he said.

A questioner asked Obama to join Republicans and agree that candidates' families and religion are off limits. Palin's pregnant unmarried teenage daughter and the teachings of her church, the nondenominational Wasilla Bible Church, have been the subject of scrutiny since McCain picked her as his running mate.

Obama responded that he already has said families are off limits and he's very protective of his daughters, 10-year-old Malia and 7-year-old Sasha. He said he doesn't want their inevitable future mistakes to become newspaper fodder if he gets to the White House."

The sex-ed ad is so incredibly offense, I actually feel sick to my stomach. The provision they're talking about as "sex ed" was teaching children how to avoid sexual predators! They're slamming Obama for supporting the prevention of child sexual abuse. They have sunk to a new low.

Once again, I say "Aargh!" The entire GOP campaign is built on misinformation. And, they're getting away with it.

I was heartened to see that as of 10:30 this morning all of cnn.com, yahoo news and google news had a big headling carrying the AP story where Barack castigates the McCain camp for spreading lies and resorting to pathetic tacticts and saying "enough is enough."

I think, maybe, this could be the breakthrough B.O. needed. The chance to make the point that McCain's campaign is issue-less, but is all about ridiculousness. People are fed up with stupid political games.

This will boomerang on McCain.

Obama said the McCain campaign moved to "seize an innocent remark and take it out of context because they knew it's catnip for the news media."

"See, it would be funny, but the news media decided that would be the lead story yesterday. This happens every election cycle. Every four years, this is what we do. This is what they want to spend two of the last 55 days talking about...Enough!" he said.

Obama called the attacks "lies, outrage and swift boat politics."

"These are serious times and they call for a serious debate...spare me all the phony outrage. Spare me all the phony talk about change," he said.
