Krauthammer on Palin

Some of you might have seen this. Not surprisingly, Krauthammer is no fan of Obama (and is especially critical of his experience), but at least he is willing to harsh on the Palin choice: "a crazy brave, characteristically reckless, inconceivably difficult maneuver." Characteristically reckless can't be a good quality for a President of the United States.

a couple of things piss me off about this. first, i am SO SICK of journalists calling palin a reformer. what the hell did she ever reform? she's the same old republican i've been hating on for 20 years. nothing different, nothing new. second, and bridget and i were bitching about this yesterday while getting our pedicures, what the hell are "small town values" and where do the repugs get off claiming this as some sort of virtue? thankfully the daily show has already tackled this question so i don't have to:

SmallTownValues

ok, i have more to say about this. i mean, why are small town values so much better than big city values? and wtf is the difference, anyway. i mean, in big cities you're exposed to different cultures, religion, experiences, etc. small towns are typically homogeneous, isolated, and intolerant (not always, but i grew up in one and am speaking from experience). oh, wait, i know the difference--big cities are where all the semi-automatic guns end up that small town politicians think we all need to defend ourselves. that 8 year old girl shot on the south side last week would have been much better off if she'd been packing some heat.
