Bridget: Running Rock Star

Congratulations to Bridget, who ran the 13.1 Half Marathon this weekend in 1:47.42. Her average mile was 8:13! She finished 19th of the 335 women in her age cohort, in the top 6 percent of all women, and top 15 percent overall. And, she qualified for a preferred start in the Chicago Marathon. Rock star!

That's great! Gabe is practicing his marathon day hollering.

There are lots of web calculators out there to compute "equivalent" times. I found one, which gives a marathon projection of: 3:48.53. Wow!

Damn, B, that's nuts! Congrats!

And, don't be overwhelmed by that marathon projection--none of us woud be disappointed as long as you finish Boston in under 3:50.

Of course, one can't help but think that this sets up the big "Bridget vs. George: Battle of the Clash of the Titans of the Sexes Race." This has pay-per-view written all over it. It's like a hybrid of Billie Jean King vs. Bobby Riggs, and Ruffian vs. Foolish Pleasure**. But with a better soundtrack.

**Don’t read too much into the fact that the filly Ruffian broke her leg and had to be put down on the track during her match race against the colt Foolish Pleasure. Not the the point.
