Because it looks like the Florida GOP primary will be relatively boring today, I'm looking elsewhere for my political amusement today. Luckily, this is hitting the Intertubes.
Remember a while back when some knucklehead from Fox Business claimed that the new Muppet movie was trying to brainwash American children with liberalism? Well, in a press conference following their London premiere, Kermit and Miss Piggy were asked for and gave a response:

Barack Beats Reagan
Fox News has a poll out this morning that offers yet more fascinating results. In Washington Monthly's summary, they highlight this question and answer:
Q: What do you think the nation's economy needs more of right now -- the economic policies of Ronald Reagan or the economic policies of Barack Obama?"
A: Obama 49%, Reagan 40%
Wow. Is it too early to re-name National Airport?
They also highlight another interesting question, "Do you think asking the wealthiest Americans to pay more in taxes is a good idea because it levels the economic and social playing field, or a bad idea because it punishes work and success?" 55% of those polled thought it would be best to raise taxes on the wealthy. But, by all means, GOP, please keep arguing this point.

Fox and Friends Are After Me
Well, if not me specifically, definitely my company. They've been running a bit every Wednesday for the past couple months entitled, "The Trouble with Textbooks." In it, they talk to Larry Schweikart, a professor at Dayton University and author of 48 Liberal Lies About American History (That You Probably Learned in School). Among the lies that he boldly exposes as being taught in our schools are "Lie #7: The 'Peace Movement' Activists Were Not Dupes of the KGB," "Lie #21: Columbus Was Responsible for Killing of Millions of Indians," and "Lie #37: Global Warming is a Fact, and It's a Man-Made, American-Driven Problem." Clearly, fair and balanced.
Anyhow, they've been taking a number of textbooks to task. But, they've only given my company's information out in pieces like this, listing our name, CEO, and contact information. They're after us. I guess we're going to have to apologize to Rush for something.

Morning Roundup-Stay Calm
The polls are tightening but Nate assures us that Obama still has about an 8 point lead and that he should expect a post-debate bump in a few days. Gallup is only showing a 2 point lead, a poll of polls from CNN shows an overall 6 point lead (but with the main message being Obama drops in the polls. 2 points!). Regardless, the electoral map is still solidly weighted towards Obama. Plus Politico has a poll showing Obama way ahead in key counties in swing states. Stay cool, my friends.
Luckily for McCain's campaign continues to be completely mismanaged. He's still spending money in Iowa for pete's sake. Stepping up his hate campaign, McCain unleashes a series of robocalls rehashing all the old lies about Ayers and Obama killing babies--I really think this is going to continue to turn people off. Plus he may be violating some state laws. Sweet! (If you want to listen to the calls, go here.
Oh and there's also so desperate they're harrassing voters! Where my people live in Charlotte!
Kos picked up this quote from a really long (10 pages!) article in the NYT a few days ago. It's amazing how Barack can go after Fox News without letting the mud splatter on himself. It's all kind of matter-of-fact but with a dash of real concern thrown in. It blows my mind when I dare think about the greatness that could lie in an Obama presidency:

"I live in Charlotte NC, where today is the first day of early voting. I drove by two polling places before 8 this morning and they were both completely mobbed. My husband has driven to two others in his attempt to vote today, and the scene has been so ridiculous that he has given up and will try again next week. At two of the spots where he tried to vote, he witnessed and was approached by two exceedingly aggressive McCain/Palin volunteers who were pulling people out of line, handing out brochures, and telling them "You really need to think carefully about your vote. If you plan to vote Obama, we would ask that you read this material and reconsider your vote."

Who wants somebody like that?
"I guess the point I’m making," he went on, "is that there is an entire industry now, an entire apparatus, designed to perpetuate this cultural schism, and it’s powerful. People want to know that you’re fighting for them, that you get them. And I actually think I do. But you know, if people are just seeing me in sound bites, they’re not going to discover that. That’s why I say that some of that may have to happen after the election, when they get to know you."
This is no surprise but it still made my heart pound louder in my chest. WaPo endorses Obama for President.:

He is deliberate but not indecisive; eloquent but a master of substance and detail; preternaturally confident but eager to hear opposing points of view. Even Fox calls them on their lies
I never thought I would see this, but maybe this is a turning point. Tucker Bounds (famed for being pilloried by CNN's Campbell Brown) was on Fox today and Megyn Kelly actually held him accountable for the McCain campaign claims. What a world it is when even Fox won't let them get away with their lies.

KELLY: I want to hold you accountable for what McCain is doing, and get you to weigh in on this. Has your candidate gone too far, has he stretched the truth with the voters?
BOUNDS: Well, Megyn, what we have done is gone to great lengths to discuss Barack Obama's record. And I think what you're seeing in this ad today is that he would rather hurl insults than examine his record. I mean, it is true that during a struggling economy, he proposes raising taxes.
KELLY: Not on the middle class.
BOUNDS: Well...ulp...on job growth and small businesses that drive the job growth of this country.

KELLY: No, no! Let's stay on point, I'm not giving him any credit. I'm saying what the independent analysts say. They say that claim is false. And if that's false, why would John McCain do that, Tucker? Why wouldn't he just level with the voters and say, look, he's going to raise taxes on the wealthy or whatever you consider somebody to be making over $250,000, it's going to have a trickle down effect. That may not be good for the middle class. But why say he's going to raise taxes on the middle class when he's not?

KELLY: Why did John McCain suggests in an ad that Barack Obama supported, comprehensive sex-ed for kindergartners? ... I looked at the language in the bill ... The language in the bill talks about age appropriate sex ed, including education about child predators and inappropriate touching. What is wrong with that?
BOUNDS: And sexually transmitted diseases.
KELLY: Right. Why wouldn't you want a kindergartner to be educated somewhat about inappropriate touching from adults?
BOUNDS: About sexually transmitted diseases?
KELLY: No! No! [crosstalk] His campaign says that's not fair, what he was backing was trying to educate little kindergartners on how to avoid sexual predators' and that you are distorting the language of the bill. Your response.
