Tomorrow (Tuesday the 3rd) is the primary part of the special election to fill the 5th Congressional seat vacated by Rahm Emanuel. As we all know, the winner of the Democratic primary will win the general.
But, who among the 13 to vote for? My current inclination is to go with Mike Quigley. Not for his endorsements by the Tribune and Sun-Times. But instead because he was endorsed by the 20-something son of legendary Chicago newspaperman Mike Rokyo:

Clearly my standards are pretty assailable. So, if someone wants to convince me to vote for U of C prof Charles Wheelan, or Tom Geoghegan, that's not going to be too hard to do.

i'm going with quigley cuz as lydia says: he's the only candidate daley is opposed to.
Write yourselves in! With a field this wide open, that might be enough to take it.
yeah, so, Jess and I went to the polling place this a.m. and a rather big and not unintimidating man standing out on the sidewalk said, "can I count on your for Pat?" (meaning 40th ward alderman O'Connor) to which I replied,"Hey, he's my alderman!" That seemed to please the dude.
I then voted for Quigley.
Anyhow, there was no one voting and a bunch of precinct workers out and about. I really think whichever candidate is closest to the Daley machine wins. So, not Quigley.
If Sara F. wins at least it's not another white male, as they, generally speaking, suck.
i got accosted by an enforcer for fritchey. these guys are unbelievable.
hey--is this winner takes all or could their be a runoff?
From what I've heard, it's winner takes all for each party.
in the spirit of "winner takes it all" maybe I should have voted for Pat O'Connor. After all, he lives like 2 blocks from us.
Once in DC, he'd cozy up to Rahm and B.O. and before you know it he's bringing him cash money by the freighter-full for the 'hood:
-Virginia Avenue repaved in 14 karat gold by October.
-An Irish pub in every basement.
-garbage pick up every 45 minutes.
Can I get a do-over?
I'm sure the Ward officials would be willing to let you have another go.
Rookie mistake, JGJ. Always vote for the corrupt (ie : Irish) guy from your neighborhood. They always seem to be able to weasel the most earmarks for their District, and they usually slip a little something-something in for their old stomping grounds.
