For Crying Out Loud

Buried down towards the bottom of this WaPo item is ridiculous news: Bill Daley, our esteemed mayor's brother, is planning on throwing his hat in the ring for the Senate in 2010. That ought to end the Illinois Senate seat circus.

i also heard that he was running for governor. maybe these are trial balloons to see what illinoisans might support.

i'd love to see one viable candidate for either seat who isn't related to a current elected official. that's all i want.

I fear the senate seat could go to Repub. Congressman Mark Kirt. He's cultivated a pretty high profile as a decent guy and will get tons of money. But actually he's a war-mongering suburban drone.

That being said, Ilsa I totally agree that Bill Daley is trying to see if he has a chance at anything. He is less-dumb than Ritchie, and I think he lives somewhere on the northside (Sauganash maybe; Dave, have you seen him out of the window of the Peterson Ave. bus?), so he could be worse.

As far as I'm concerned, no one with the name Daley should ever be elected in Chicago. They've had enough.

Ilsa, you've gotten some good press lately. I say you run.

if chicago is looking for a "wiry, gregarious, thirty-something" sustainability director, i'll definitely throw my hat in the ring. it's perfect, the press coverage of me doubles as an online profile.

You know who else is "wiry and gregarious"? Mr. President, that's who.
