Hillary Clinton to be Secretary of State? This is all over the internet this morning. An announcement may be made today. I must say, I'm kinda surprised. Never thought she'd want to work for Obama.
speculation on TNR.com (the new republic's website) is that if Obama feels like he will be in domestic-economic-policy lock-down, then he needs a S.o.S. who can be a powerful stand-in for foreign policy stuff and who is high-profile enough to make things happen on overseas trips.
She would be that (unless she comes under sniper fire....awww, c'mon, you were all thinking the same thing).
I think this would be a pretty cool move. It would help him further consolidate the Democratic party. I think she'd be pretty good at State. Considering how politically charged she is, State is probably a better place for her than SCOTUS.
Now, if this is true, do you think she accepts? If she's part of his administration, it seems like it would be harder for her to make a run in 2012 if she thinks he's vulnerable. Maybe, like the rest of us, she's finally realized that he's got the intellect and temperament to be a highly successful president who will win reelection in a landslide.

i don't think he offers her the job w/o assurances she won't run in 2012. she must realize that's a nonstarter at this point anyway.
apparently obama is also seriously considering richardson for this post too.
