Fitzgerald said "there is no allegation in the complaint that the President-elect was aware of it and that is all I can say." His comment did not close the door on the possibility that Obama or someone on his staff may have known of some aspect of the Govenror's demands.
More loveliness from our Gov:
The FBI affidavit said Blagojevich had been told by an adviser "the President-elect can get ROD BLAGOJEVICH's wife on paid corporate boards in exchange for naming the President-elect's pick to the Senate."
Told by two other advisers he has to "suck it up" for two years, the FBI says it heard Blagojevich complain he has to give this "motherf***er [the President-elect] his Senator. F*** him. For nothing? F*** him."
The Governor is heard saying he will pick another candidate "before I just give f***ing [Senate Candidate l] a f***ing Senate seat and I don't get anything."

What would Obama have to gain by giving Blago anything? Doesn't seem like getting his Senate choice would be worth the risk.
i just don't like the tone of Fitz's comment. He sounds deliberately vague and too lawyerly-like. Plus, why hasn't Obama made a statement yet? I get that it will probably have to be vetted by a gazillion people, and I think his meeting with Gore is today, but still...
Accdg to the complaint, Obama did refuse to pay to play:
Later in the conversation, ROD BLAGOJEVICH said he knows that the President-elect wants Senate Candidate 1 for the open seat but "they're not willing to give me anything except appreciation. Fuck them."
Sure, there's a lot more to come, I'm sure, but as your last comment shows, it seems like Barack's above the fray. I hope that continues to be the case. It's just amazing that Barack made it to the WH from this crazy state.
I do believe that Obama and his people (Axelrod etc), figured out pretty quickly that Rod was a joke (much moreso than i ever thought possible), and so never took the bait.
My favorite quote so far is the second part of this excerpt from the Trib's website,
"Illinois Lt. Gov. Pat Quinn today called on Gov. Rod Blagojevich to step aside, at least temporarily, because the governor is "seriously impeded from carrying out his oath of office."...
....He added he had not talked to Blagojevich since 2007"
The Lt. Gov and the Gov "have not talked" since 2007?!?!?
