This is awesome. I guess it all started with a traditional nativity scene on the grounds of the WA capitol. An atheist group asked if they, too, could put up a display. Not wanting to exclude any groups, WA said sure. That opened the floodgates. A number of groups asked to put up displays, from the serious, a Buddhist display; to the ridiculous, a "Festivus" pole and a Flying Spaghetti Monster display; to the downright scary, a conservative Christian group wanted to put up a sign reading "Santa Claus will take you to Hell."
So, the state threw up it's hands and banned all new holiday displays. We live in a very silly country.
