About this and this.
Vilsack has an exhibited an interest and tolerance in genetically modified food, pissing off the organic food movement.(although he does support alternative fuels) And Salazar. Give me a break--he's a rancher with ties to the mining industry. Plus all the people who have come out so far to support this appointment are Republicans.
I know that Obama is a moderate, but this is a bit hard to stomach.
Oh, and Barack is Time's Person of the Year. Well, duh.

Grr. I should have realized that about Vilsack. And, of course he's for alternative energy--ethanol. Stupid corn lobby.
And, I've seriously had enough of people from the mining industry in the cabinet. Granted, I think the official Dem position supports "Clean Coal." Funny, it doesn't mention anything about unicorns, though.
also, are we worried about the story out today that rahm is on tape talking about the senate appt? i mean, ain't nothing wrong about that but PEBO needs to come clean if that's the case.
I agree that he does need to come clean. There was an article in the NYT this weekend, I think, about how Rahm and the boys learned their damage control techniques from the Lewinsky scandal. I think their main take away was don't tell nobody nothing. Like I've said before, I think this tendency will be really frustrating over the next 8 years.
How much leeway will guys like Salazar and Vilsack have in terms of policy? Because I agree with you all that their "moderateness" seems more like anti-progressivism.
I suppose even if they have no say on policy and will toe the line of whatever the WH decides, they are still poor choices symbolically.
The only upside is that all of the wingnuts who feared an uber-liberal Obama administration have had that idea pretty much killed. Oh, wait, I kind of wanted/want an uber-liberal administration. What up, B?
