Bill Ayers or Saddam Hussein. You decide.

McCain Transition Chief Aided Saddam in Lobbying Effort

This should take Bill Ayers off the table:

"William Timmons, the Washington lobbyist who John McCain has named to head his presidential transition team, aided an influence effort on behalf of Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein to ease international sanctions against his regime.

The two lobbyists who Timmons worked closely with over a five year period on the lobbying campaign later either pleaded guilty to or were convicted of federal criminal charges that they had acted as unregistered agents of Saddam Hussein's government."

I was just going to post about this! I gotta think McCain now can't bring up the tenuous Ayers connection at the debate. And now I kinda hope he does.

There was some speculation that Obama/Biden were goading McCain into talking about Ayers at the debate because they had some super secret ammo. I wonder if this is it?

Bombshell. I can't wait to see McCain sputtering to try to explain this.

Also, this Timmons fellow earned over $250,000 this year lobbying for Freddie Mac. Nice.

I am so excited about this last debate that I *swear* I'm either going to pass out or wet my pants as soon as Bob Schieffer says "Good evening, from the campus of Hofstra University..."

(Luckily we'll be at my house for the big event, so although not ideal, these possible outcomes can be handled discretely and with some measure of dignity.)
