GOP Campaign Worker Admits to Making Up Attack Story
You've probably already seen this, but the McCain campaign worker who claimed to have been assaulted by an Obama-supporter mugger admitted to making the story up. Bizarrely, I don't see any sirens up on Drudge about this recent development. In the end, though, this story is just sad.

drudge has finally updated this story. i first saw it yesterday and kind of freaked out but i didn't think it was salon worthy. i mean, it's just some crazy guy. then later last night i looked at the pic again and realized the B was carved into her face backwards, and perfectly straight. like she was doing it herself while looking in the mirror.
those repugs are some clever folk.
It didn't become Salon worthy to me until it came out that she made the whole thing up. Especially, considering the way that Drudge and Fox ran with it as somehow a strike against the Obama campaign.
Ultimately, though, I think it's a sad story. I guess she thought she'd be helping the campaign, but in the end, I think it's just a weird, depressing cry for attention. Now, she faces charges over it.
i just meant the story from yesterday wasn't salon-worthy!! i didn't want to jump on the story b/c even though it had really awful details it wasn't politically meaningful. unlike drudge, who ran that as a headline for 12 hours straight. he's getting really desperate.
