Monday Morning Hodge Podge

A couple tidbits from what I'm reading (aside from the stuff Ilsa's already posted) and thinking about today:
  • I thought John Lewis made good/scary points about the hatred/racism at the McCain-Palin rallies. Of course, McCain had to express dismay at being compared to George Wallace. But, I'm very happy with the Obama campaign's response to McCain. They stuck to their guns and called Palin's rhetoric dangerous.
  • Speaking of Palin, I'm frustrated that her ethics violations aren't a bigger deal. She abuses her power, and nobody cares; John Edwards cheats on Elizabeth and the press is all over it. Both were examples of poor behavior by public officials, but only one has implications about how the official would govern.
  • One more Palin point: she openly admitted that she put her daughter Piper in a Flyers jersey to hopefully keep down the boos when she dropped the puck in Philly. The way she uses her kids as props, I wouldn't have been surprised if she had picked up Piper and used her as a shield had the Philly fans started throwing crap.
  • Biden had another great line the other day.
  • If you're interested in voting early to free up time on November 4 to either canvass or try to get into Obama's election day rally in Chicago, here are details on doing so.

Anybody know any details of the Obama gathering on the 4th? I can't imagine the same old hotel ballroom is going to be big enough.

I don't think the United Center would be big enough either, but it would be a better option than the Hyatt.

Really, really, really want to try to go (but I'm guessing being a many-time small donor isn't going to be enough for an invite, huh?).
