Morning Roundup--A little Sassy with your coffee

This is such good news from Nate about early and absentee voting that you're definitely going to want to read the entire post here. But the money quote is: "Obama is leading by an average of 23 points among early voters in these five states, states which went to George W. Bush by an average of 6.5 points in 2004." Before ya get all skeptical on me Sassy readers (Dave), yes, early voters tend to be very partisan, but this goes against the trend of the last two presidential elections where the early numbers benefited Bush. This bodes well for Obama's GOTV drive.

Also from our boy genius, Nate notes that there are now no less than seven national polls showing Obama with a double digit advantage. Makes the NYT/CBS poll less crazy, huh? Even though he is still predicting the race to tighten (which is historically what happens) this race seems to be breaking alot of the old rules. For one, it's unusual for a candidate to continue to have such momentum this late in the game. I'm predicting landslide, people. Stay with me!

As we all know, if Repugs can't win an election honestly they'll start to play dirty. Too bad Ohio is once again proving that just cuz you cast your vote doesn't mean it will get counted.

Your morning funny comes from John in Arizona. He finally reveals his big economic proposal and half of it is exactly what Obama proposed a few days ago. The other half is for a reduction on the capital gains tax for those who want to sell long held stocks. Too bad those stocks ain't worth any money right now so ain't nobody sellin'. Thanks Uncle John!

RealClearPolitics agrees with Penny's assertion from yesterday--the poll numbers on specific questions about the candidate's fitness for the presidency overwhelmingly support Obama.
"These numbers are horrible for McCain. All of them speak to core qualities we expect a President to possess - not to mention the central premises of the McCain candidacy. Strong leader, able to handle a major crisis, somebody you'd go to for the toughest decision in your life because you know he has good judgment. Right now, that man is Barack Obama - not John McCain. This is a clear indication to me that, as of today, the country is comfortable with the idea of Obama as President. If it remains comfortable with that idea come Election Day, he will win."

That's it for now folks. Don't forget, tonight we'll be live blogging the final debate. Don't be shy! Send us your comments--we know you're out there.

Good old fashioned voter suppression. Hopefully, the Obama campaign can fight back against this a bit. They've been successful with other issues in shifting the viepoint of the media. Maybe they can do it again.
